Data Use / Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated September 2026. Applies to every dataset delivered by The Lead Locker.

1. Licence and permitted use

Datasets purchased from The Lead Locker are licensed for the purchaser's own internal business use: prospecting, outreach, appointment setting, marketing and research carried out by your business or by a service provider acting on your behalf and bound to these same restrictions. The licence is non-exclusive and non-transferable, and it does not transfer ownership of the records.

2. Restrictions

  • No resale, licensing, brokering, publication or other redistribution of delivered records, in whole or in part, unless expressly agreed with us in writing.
  • No sharing of files or account downloads with other businesses, affiliates or third parties outside the permitted service-provider arrangement above.
  • No uploading of records into a public directory, data marketplace or shared database that makes them available beyond your business.
  • No use of records to build a competing dataset or data product for supply to others.

3. Your compliance responsibility

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of purchased data complies with all laws and regulations that apply to your outreach and to your industry. Depending on your jurisdiction and channels, that may include telemarketing and do-not-call rules, automated dialling and text-messaging rules, commercial email requirements, data protection and privacy law, and any licensing or supervisory requirements applicable to financial, insurance, mortgage or real-estate activity.

Practical steps that remain your responsibility include screening against applicable do-not-call and suppression lists before calling or texting, honouring opt-out requests promptly and permanently, identifying yourself accurately in every contact, observing permitted calling hours, and keeping records of your own compliance processes.

Purchasing a dataset from The Lead Locker does not itself provide legal permission for any particular outreach method, and it is not a substitute for advice from your own legal or compliance adviser. Marketing permissions your business gives to The Lead Locker are unrelated to, and confer no permissions concerning, individuals or businesses listed in a purchased dataset.

4. Prohibited use

  • Any unlawful, deceptive, harassing or fraudulent activity.
  • Misrepresenting who you are, where you obtained the data, or the purpose of your contact.
  • Contacting individuals who have asked not to be contacted, or continuing contact after an opt-out.
  • Using the data to attempt identity theft, credit or benefit fraud, or any form of extortion.
  • Using the data for employment, tenancy, insurance underwriting or credit eligibility decisions. The Lead Locker datasets are marketing data and are not consumer reports.
  • Attempting to access files, accounts or quotes belonging to another The Lead Locker customer, or probing the security of the platform.

5. Security of delivered files

Delivered files must be stored securely and access limited to personnel who need them. Credentials must not be shared between people. If a delivered file is exposed or lost, tell us so we can record the incident and, where appropriate, restrict further access to the file.

6. Acknowledgement at checkout

When you accept a quote you are required to acknowledge the Terms of Service and this Data Use Policy, and to confirm that you are responsible for ensuring your use of purchased data complies with applicable laws and regulations. That acknowledgement is recorded against the order.

7. Enforcement

Where use appears inconsistent with this policy we may request an explanation, suspend downloads, restrict or close the account, and decline future orders. Serious or repeated breaches may be reported to the relevant authority. Suspension for breach does not entitle you to a refund of a fulfilled order.

8. Reporting concerns

To report a suspected misuse of The Lead Locker data, or to raise a question about permitted use before you begin a campaign, contact us through the contact page.
